Editor 1.0.2
What is Editor?
I’ve never been a big fan of ExpressionEngine’s Edit index. (Or any other CMS’s version of the page, for that matter.) The workflow just seems strange to me. You generally start off at your website, looking at the entry you decide to edit, and then you have to hunt for that same entry within the CMS before you can touch it.
Editor adds little Edit buttons next to each of your entries, right on your website. Click on one of them, and that entry’s Edit page will open in a new window.
Of course, you have to be logged in for them to appear; they won’t show up for your normal visitors.
Installation
- Download and unzip the latest version
- Upload extensions/ext.editor.php to system/extensions
- Upload language/english/lang.editor.php to system/language/english
- Enable Editor in the Extensions Manager
Configuration
From Editor’s Settings page, you can set the following preferences:
Control Panel index page URL
Unfortunately, ExpressionEngine doesn’t make it easy for an extension to determine where your Control Panel is located, so this setting is crucial.
Check for Editor updates?
Powered by LG Addon Updater, Editor can call home and check to see if there’s a new update available.
Usage
Once Editor is installed and activated, you should be good to go. Simply view your website while logged in with an account that has editing privileges, and the edit buttons will automagically appear.
